The Story

1839. In revolutionary Russia, the princess Anastasia loses her title and her memory, but she finds it back in Paris, along with love.

A magic mix of action, adventure, comedy, novel and music. ANASTASIA is a spectacular cartoon about the disappearance of the Russian princess, the last legendary survivor of the Romanovs, and about her incredible journey searching for her true identity. During her adventure, unique in her kind, Anastasia and her friends have to fight the perfidious wizard Rasputin, his friend, the albino bat Bartok and a band of ghostly creatures, all together to complete the revenge of Rasputin.
Situated in imperial Russia, in the Soviet Union post – revolution and in the sparkling Paris of the 20’s, ANASTASIA is a fairy tale of the XX century, inspired by the legend of the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nicholaevna. For a long time people discussed the fact that Anastasia would have survived the destroying effects of the Russian revolution: the film focuses on the essence of this mystery and it asks what would have happened in reality if the princess would have survived.

Fiorello - Dimitri

To support the whole film there are the beautiful songs which are a part of the song title which has had an Oscar nomination. In the original version Anastasia and Dimitri have been synchronized by Meg Ryan and John Cusack, but in the Italian version it’s Tosca and Fiorello who are giving the voice to the two main characters.

Fiorello is facing this attempt with his usual enthusiasm and keeps amazing everybody, including the one who did the test for the synchronization. In fact when Fiorello came in the recording studio and synchronized the voice of Dimitri, with his natural voice the voice was to ‘adultly’ and he was rejected. He came back after he left and he suggested a complete new version which conquered everybody right away. Tosca said that they had to do the synchronizement in two separate rooms because of Fiorello/Dimitri who was always joking, making her laugh and blocking her to give the right dramatic tones to the princess.
