Fiorello:  "Many surprises and new opportunities await me and I want to take full advantage of them"

To all those from Sottovoce I apologize if so far I have actually spoken loudly. I am joking, but a warm greeting to all and... See you next time!! 

We have stolen Fiorello right after his new conference at the Festivalbar for the presentation of the first evening at piazza del Plebiscito.  Between jokes and come-backs we have asked him some questions which he has kindly answered.  And we have also given him a copy of our publication and the moment has been the subject of a photo.  From today on, Fiorello too is a reader of Sottovoce!  

- How has your return to Naples been after the successes of Karaoke?  If we are not wrong, it was since then that you did not get to be back in Piazza del Plebiscito, right? 
Yes, it has been a while...it seems like is was only yesterday that I was here to make people sing, we always had a great time and the participation of the audience was always "special"

- How is your relationship with Neapolitans? 
I would say very good and I will say it again, I have always felt comfortable her.  Lately I can even say that the relationship is excellent.  I took around my song "Tu vuo` fa l'americano" by Renato Carosone and I had a great success with it.  It was the only Italian song selected to be brought to the MTV Awards:  a wonderful feeling! 

- Are you happy to be at the Festivalbar?
The stage seems to be your natural habitat...
I adore the Festivalbar and I thank Andrea Salvetti who is giving me the chance to present this important show for the entire summer around Italy.  The stage is my natural habitat?  Maybe.  At any rate it helps to have been an entertainer in the past, you learn to develop a relationship with the audience and to manage any situation and this is of utmost importance when you have to "manage" tens of thousands of people in the square.  The secret is to show yourself for what you are and to make those before you understand  that you are one of them. 

- Press and television are full of compliments for the duo Fiorello-Marcuzzi, they say it is the best at getting along and the this is noticeable...
I read that too and I am glad the audience appreciates our shows and is attached to us.  I am perfectly comfortable working with Alessia, she is a serious professional and deserves all the success she has.  She is an intelligent and sensible woman and I am not surprised of the fact that she is very much courted and sought

- Don't you think it is a paradox that all those who participate at the Festivalbar sing with playback.  If it is a festival, should there not be only live music?
This is an old problem.  It is not true that just because it is a festival all the songs must be live...Let's say, as Andrea Salvetti can confirm, that it is not something imposed by the organizers, but just the opposite.  If someone wished to sing live we are more than happy to accommodate this.  For sure the play back makes things easier and faster when you think of the high degree of technical organization and the higher costs.  The audience wants to see its favorite acts and is happy simply for this and the artist, at the same time, wishes to sing a piece without any problems.  Who wins the Festivalbar does so not for its performance, but because he or she has the best song of the summer... 

- What can we expect from Fiorello next year?
Many surprises and new opportunities that I want to take advantage of as best I can.
