Karaoke

The name and the fame came with the Karaoke (1992-1994): Fiorello makes all people, young and old, students and teachers, housewives and graduates in all of Italy sing.

After the summer, Finivest Fatma Ruffini, inventor of a lot of programs of many audiences, thinks about exploiting the fashion of the Karaoke for a TV program. A new idea has to correspond to a young and not yet famous face that will be able to entertain the people and give some rhythm to the program. The choice is Fiorello who, at least when he imitated famous singers, already did the karaoke for a long time. When they finally found the presenter they decided to air the program at eight pm which is difficult, since in Italy this hour is reserved for the news. The show takes place in a square. In the beginning the show was aired in small towns which would guarantee a huge participation. The first episodes didn’t go well at all and just when, after a few episodes, they decided to quit, the people started to come to the squares and in no time Fiorello had become one of the most famous people in Italy. The possibility to see themselves on TV becomes a motivation to not miss the appointments with the cameras of Fiorello. The idea was excellent, the superlative presenter with a slow escalation allowed the karaoke to get more than four million viewers at night.
